Can Programmable Thermostats Save You Money?

We get asked this question a lot… and the answer is YES. We say this because the in the majority of households the house is empty most of the day. Parents are off to work, kids at school. We find it is very beneficial to “Set it and Forget it”.
Most household’s daily schedules do not vary to much from day to day and week to week, so once you have your programmable thermostat installed and programmed you can forget about setting the temperature up and back when you leave for work or before you go to bed. This alone could save the average family 10% on their heating and cooling costs. (Heating and Cooling is about 50% of the average family’s energy costs)
Most programmable thermostats come with at least 4 time settings per day which means you can set the temperature a little warmer or cooler in the morning when you get out of bed, and then have the thermostat re- set the temperature while the house is empty most of the day (Saving energy all day). This re-set feature also works great at night when you want it to be cooler or warmer for sleeping.
The programmable thermostat gives us one less thing to think about in our busy lives and it will usually pay for it self with in four years. Not a bad return on investment and you also are helping out the planet by consuming less energy.
There are many different styles and features on programmable thermostats so do a little research to see what one works best for your daily schedule.
